In a bold move, Trump has frozen all military aid to Ukraine. It is estimated that the US has provided between $150 billion to upwards of $350 billion as military assistance to Ukraine since the war began three years ago.
This is not only financial aid but also arms and weapons.
Around 20% to 30% of Ukraine’s military supplies come from the US, while the bulk of Ukraine’s weapons are produced locally (~40%), and EU states fill the remaining gap. However, US armaments, including Patriot interceptor missiles, ATACMS missiles, and long-range artillery systems, have become critical to Ukraine's war effort.
An equally important “support” in the grey is Starlink.
Will the US cut Ukraine’s access to the space internet system? The Ukrainian military and society rely heavily on Starlink, and if it disappears, it may have perhaps the most widely felt effect.
This makes Trump’s aid freeze more than chaotic. It could result in Ukraine adopting a new position and the world looking at America differently.
Below are 5 scenarios and 2 shockwaves as Trump turns off the taps.
