A closer US-Russia relationship changes everything
For almost five hours in Riyadh, representatives from the US and Russia discussed bringing the Ukraine war to an end.
Strangely, Ukraine was not present at these talks.
The end result: radical ideas demands from Russia that could dramatically change the security landscape in Europe, like NATO pulling forces from Eastern Europe or the US guaranteeing Ukraine will never become a member of NATO, the latter of which partly prompted Russia’s invasion three years ago. Calls for Ukraine to hold elections have only added to the confusing peace talks, as fears rise that Moscow wants elections in Ukraine to install a more pro-Russian government in Kyiv.
