Trump vs. BRICS Could Reshape the Global Economy | Part 1
One of the biggest geopolitical crises of the decade begins
As was expected, President-elect Trump’s time before Inauguration Day is anything but calm. Like a gun rapidly firing, Trump is raising the heat on everybody, one at a time. It started with putting Mexico and Canada on the hot seat. Now, while North America is in a state of flux, Trump has swung at BRICS.
Trump is threatening a 100% tariff on BRICS nations if the group moves forward with de-dollarization efforts, such as settling trade in local currencies or creating a brand new currency, like a BRICS currency. Earlier this year, the latter was unveiled as a concept note in Kazan, Russia.

America is locking horns with the world’s most infamous geopolitical bloc. Some might view this as less significant than Trump’s moves to quell the wars in Europe or the Middle East or Trump’s trade plays with Mexico, Canada, and China. However, the fight that Trump has started with BRICS could be far more consequential than all the other flashpoints.
“The clash between Trump and BRICS should be referred to as “TRICS.” This is a fight that is just beginning.”
