“America First.” During Trump’s first term, the world was unsure what to make of this phrase or ideology. Was it just political talk to excite voters or something bigger? In Trump’s second term, it is clear that America First goes beyond politics. However, many are looking at the new outlook of the US through a narrow lens, like tariffs or immigration.
In reality, America First is much, much bigger than these things. It is the new US geostrategic strategy, and its impact will be felt for the next 10, 20, and 30 years. Anyone trying to decipher Trump’s boldest moves toward allies like Canada or old adversaries like Iran can only find clarity by understanding what America First really means.
